Today’s
scrap metal prices are still much lower than last year, but at least things have
stabilized and are looking slightly better.
The overall drag remains China and Europe. China is not buying as much scrap metal,
including not as much copper, steel and aluminum as they were last year.

Steel
Scrap
Metal-steel was up this month which made everyone happy. About a week ago, we were hearing steel could
be down next month, but we are now hearing it could be no-change, or as the industry
says, ‘sideways’. This means that scrap
metal, here in Raleigh, NC could have almost no change. A key thought as we all know, this could
change. A positive thing is that the recent
increase in steel, junk cars (Salvage Cars), could hold. A positive thing is that steel production in
the U.S. has been trending up in recent weeks, so the demand for scrap metal
recycling products is a bit stronger.
Again, China and Europe need to buy to make the difference.
Copper
Scrap
metal recycling of copper remains our highest value major family of
products. We are major buyers of scrap
copper. The good news is that copper
prices are now stable and if all keeps going, we may increase our copper prices in the
coming week. Scrap metal prices for
copper have come down a lot, in recent months, so this would be good news.
Junk Cars and Salvage
Cars
Junk
cars as many know are one of the products we buy. We Tow, or you can drive them in, or tow them
in. Cars of course have a lot of steel,
but more and more aluminum and copper. Like
with steel, we recently increased our prices for cars and we hope to maintain
that price in the coming weeks. We are
